A Cute Little Story

So the other day I was changing Knox and Alyssa was standing on her stool watching me. She pointed to him and said "what's that" of course it was her version and I ask her again. Once again she pointed to Knox's penis and said "what's that?" and I told her and she said "ew."
She than pointed to it again stuck out her tongue and said "ew" and looked at him in disguest. It was so funny and I just thought, you better keep thinking that!

On a side note. I started another blog and would love it if you check it out. It's a blog about random things and thoughts but didn't want to use this one for that since this is really my children's baby book and all! I hope you enjoy!

What a "Traintastic" Birthday Party

On Sunday Alyssa and Knox were invited to a birthday party of some friends in their playgroup. It turned out to be a fantastic day for the party, especially since it was held outside. I'm not sure who she hired or where she found this guy, but he brought a bounce house and had a train for the kids and adults to ride.
It was a blast for the kids. I have to say I enjoyed the train to since Alyssa insisted I go on it every time with her! Alyssa was pretty shy at first about the bounce house but once she saw a friends older daughter there, Kendall, she was all about it and didn't really leave Kendall's side!
What cracked me up the most was all week she had been having almost nothing but junk food because she had been at her grandparents and than to the beach. So when it came time for the cake she ate a little bit but mainly wanted the fruit! I thought could she be all sugared out!?!? Nope, when she got home she immediately started asking for cookies!
She was pretty exhausted by the time she got home and after dinner and a little more playing outside she was down for the count!
These next two weeks are filled with some fun activities for her to do that I can't wait for. We also have a busy weekend with our 4th of July party, which I can't wait for. Hopefully the weather holds out for us because I'm ready for summer!

My Beast

I have come to the conclusion that Knox is going to be one big guy. He continues to drink at least 5 bottles of 8-12oz of milk at a time. Boy I was having second thoughts about the whole breastfeeding issue but than thought I would rather spend the money than have a baby permanently attached to my breast or a pump!!!
He is now officially wearing 6 month size clothing with little room to spare. He is a little wiggle worm and tries his hardest to sit up but continues to fail as he works those neck and ab muscles for that matter!
Oh and did I mention that he is only 15 weeks old!! His giggles and smiles melt me heart. Alyssa and him continue to grow a bond. He looks at her and smiles and if she walks away he looks around as if to say "where did you go?" She continues to "read" to him and lets me know when she wants to hold him. I know I'm going to be in trouble in a few years when he is as mobile as her.
Talk about double trouble!!

Our First Vacation This Summer

Last week Alyssa went down to Longview and spent time with both sets of grandparents and had a blast! She spent her time going to the school to play on the playground equipment and riding her bus, going to Chuck E Cheese, wearing out her grandmothers and having a load full of junk food!
We picked her up on Sunday, Father's Day, and headed down to Long Beach for a few days of fun. It was kind of crazy because having her gone for almost a week I got kind of bored. I forgot what it was like to have just one child and a newborn at that. Boy those days were easy!!! I missed her like crazy and was happy to have her back.
The beach was great and the weather was actually pretty good. It wasn't hot or anything but it didn't rain so who could complain!? Monday Cory's parents came down and we made a campfire on the beach and hung out for several hours letting the dog and Alyssa play. Harley got so wore out that the next couple days he pretty much just lounged around and if you know him that is very unlike him! Alyssa had a complete blast running around getting all dirty and playing in the ocean. The water was freezing but that didn't seem to stop her at all. She loved running back and forth in the water. This time I was smart and had a change of clothes with me. Nothing was better than hearing her laugh as the waves would come up on her. It was pure enjoyment and I love that I get to live like all over again through my children's eyes. If only I could protect them from all the craziness in the world and have them remain innocent.
Knox slept pretty much the whole time when we were out there but I'm going to say he had a great time too and can't wait until he can run around with his big sister. We also headed into town and took the kids to the candy store and the arcade. Alyssa enjoyed the candy store and picked out a chocolate covered Rice Krispie treat with m & m's on it. The arcade was kind of a bust. She really wasn't into it and most of the games were broken. After spending a little while there we decided to leave. Although Cory and I did enjoy the guy who worked there and the cape he wore. Oh and Nicole now Cory really wants one....haha!!!
It was a great trip and wonderful that Cory's Aunt and Uncle let us crash at their cabin. Next time though I'm definitely taking Alyssa clam digging and I can't wait. I think I'm slowly getting over my issues with dirt and messes. Well at least when I'm not at home!

A Gymnastic Graduation

On Monday was Alyssa's last day of gymnastics for Spring quarter. It was class as normal and at the end they gave out medals to everyone. It was so cute! All the mothers had their cameras and were snapping pictures through out the class.
She will start up her summer class next week after we return from our beach vacation.
Saturday we had Cory's mom and grandma here at the house and we all hung out enjoying the nice weather and playing a little scrabble.

That morning I was over at a friends house who is going to have a garage sale and I scored a few items for the kids that Alyssa just loves. One of them is an electric bus. She had so much fun playing with this and she hasn't stopped since! Later that day we went to one of the best hidden secrets in Snohomish for dinner, Chucks Seafood Groto. It was so good. Alyssa pretty much made friends with almost everyone there. The owner came over to us and gave her a purple necklace, that matched her outfit, stickers, and his card.....he is a Seafair Pirate. She was pretty cute and loves her new trading card.

She is currently down in Longview spending the week with both sets of grandparents who are spoiling her rotten! We will pick her up on Father's Day on our way down to the beach. I miss her to death and can't wait to see my precious little girl!
Knox is doing really good. He is continuing to sleep through out the night and is getting HUGE! It has been wonderful to be able to spend some one on one time with him these last few days.

Camping at Jim Creek

This last weekend we took the kids camping with two friends of mine and their families. Just imagine 3 couples with a total of 6 kids from ages 3 months - 3 years. Let's just say there was never a dull moment! One of my friends, Jenn, her husband is in the Navy so we were able to stay at Jim Creek which is only available to military personal past and present and I think reserves as well.
We were all worried, I think, as to what the weather was going to be like since it had been raining almost non stop prior to this weekend. It turned out very well for us and really didn't rain a whole lot, with a little Friday night and some Sunday morning. Saturday we lucked out and it was a beautiful day.

Instead of tenting it we all stayed in the cabins there. They were so cool. They had what I call a front room with a futon and a wood burning stove and the bedroom had a full size bed with bunk beds. It also had electricity, a porch swing and fire pit. Cory and I really enjoyed it and were wishing we had some property somewhere where we could put one.

Friday when we got up there and got settled Jenn cooked dinner, we all took charge of one meal while there, and she made hamburgers. After that we had the kids make smores which is a camping must and they all had a great time. I was wondering if Alyssa was going to like it because she isn't a huge fan of marshmallow. She preferred the chocolate I think and just getting dirty! I felt bad because I had taken a marshmallow out of the fire and told Alyssa to bite it not thinking that the roaster/poker would be hot. It was and she got burned but nothing to make too big of a deal about. Oops! I had found these "huge" marshmallow's at the store so I got them thinking they would be fun. In reality though they really sucked to use making smores. They were just way to big and made a huge mess. There were these water faucetts that the kids were playing with and Alyssa was just soaked and to make matters worse she kept drinking water and spilling it all over herself. After awhile I went and changed her and felt horrible because she was freeezing! Oh well, I don't think she minded too much!
We hung out around the big fire pit for awhile and than we all called it a night. It was great because the cabins were set in a cull de sac setting with in the middle a play ground, several picnic tables with a cover and huge grill, and a large fire pit. The play ground was a huge hit and it was so nice just to let the kids run around and not to have to worry about them too much.

Saturday morning Cory cooked breakfast for everyone and after that everyone had decided to go for a hike. I was excited to go but ended up staying behind because Knox was getting fed and Alyssa was pretty cranky from not getting enough sleep and I knew I would end up carrying her or listening to her whine the whole time. We stayed behind and she just ran around playing and it was a lot of fun just watching her explore. Later that day after naps we headed up to the lake. Everyone rented a canoe and went out but we decided with Knox it probably wouldn't work out to well. It was fun watching everyone and the others that were fishing from the dock. By the time we got back and played around a little the others returned and we started up dinner. I was already exhausted from the sun and was really ready for bed. After dinner Jenn had got all the kids glow sticks that they just loved and were running around with them. Alyssa loved hers and wanted to wear it to bed but I was the bad parent again and made her take it off. We all hung out until around 10 or so and than called it a night.

We were up and packed up early the next morning and were home by nine or so. I will say it was only 30 minutes or so from the house. All and all everyone had a good time and were in good spirits.
It kind of made me laugh because everyone was so surprised that I would take Knox with us, being so young. I think the real hands of goes to Becky who has a one year old who isn't walking yet. I personally think that would be hard but she did a great job and he is such an adorable little boy. I think it was a great crew to be with and enjoy time and memories together.

Dinner at Grammys

Yesterday afternoon we headed down into Seattle to go to Grammy's house and spend a little time with her and have some dinner. It had been awhile since seeing her and we were do! We all had so much fun hanging out and playing. Grammy even went and got Alyssa some play dough and crayons to play with. Not that she needs much to be entertained over there. She loves all of Grammy's stuff! For dinner we got her wonderful spaghetti and salad, although Grammy didn't eat with us because she stole Knox and fed him and I think she was perfectly content! We ended up leaving around six thirty or so because I was tired of chasing Alyssa around. How she was still going was beyond me because she had no nap that day and had playgroup, played at the park and at home and ran all over Grammys! Maybe that's why she was crashed out on the drive back home! Here is a video of Knox playing with his rattle. It's really not to interesting but I thought it was cute. He is growing so much it's crazy. I don't remember Alyssa changing this quickly! I think we might be in trouble with him because he is already out of his 3 month clothes, I can still put him in 3-6 months. I keep finding stuff that is way short in the arms and legs. He is going to be a string bean like his daddy was!
